Black Rose's Big Adventure June 27th

Well, my girl has left me for her trip to Europe.  She earned and raised the funds
needed and after a year and a half has finally boarded the plane.

Her BEST FRIEND since Kindergarten has also gone.  I do hope
that they are able to bunk together.

Oh to see the bunch of them...........what a sight.

Even the dog is missing her already - she had her picture taken with him prior
to leaving the house.  Excited and nervous she admitted.

First Stop - Ireland.   I can't wait to hear the stories and
to see the photos.

Have a great time my girl- you have earned it.  What a year,
one of only 4 Grade 11 students with averages over 90% in multiple subjects,
driver's license and a trip to Europe!  Wahoooooooo- sign me up.

We love you.  Be safe my friend.

Volunteer Award

My dad was recently presented an award for his years of volunteer
service with the St. John Ambulance.  He's volunteered for
36 years now!  Black Rose and I were
invited guests to the presentations and to visit the Lieutentant -Governor's house.

Government House was constructed from 1826-28 to be the residence of New Brunswick's Governors and Lieutenant-Governors. The home is constructed of New Brunswick quarried sandstone and situated on eleven acres on the banks of the St. John River in Fredericton. It is a significant cultural landmark in Fredericton and the Province of New Brunswick. From 1828 until Confederation, most of the important decisions affecting the Province were debated in the building.

Government House had a number of uses from Confederation to 1996. It was a school for hearing impaired students from 1896 to 1900, a military barracks during World War 1 and a hospital for returning soldiers after the war. From 1934 to 1988 the building served as RCMP J Division headquarters.

Since its re-opening in 1999, New Brunswick's Government House has been open to the public. Restored rooms include the drawing room, the dining room, a library, a music room, two conservatories and the original Lieutenant-Governor's office on the main floor. The second floor includes exhibit rooms and the current Lieutenant-Governor's office. The Lieutenant-Governor's residence is on the third floor and closed to the public.

Fifteen of New Brunswick's Governors and Lieutenant-Governors have lived and worked at Government House.

I love this next room!  It was my favorite, I even loved the smell.

So imagine our surprise when we came upon this quilt hanging in the hallway.

This lighthouse we know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yep, it's true~ see below.

It`s in St. Martins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Technology - not always the best invention

I email, text and chat as much as many. But what has this world gotten to when one breaks up with another via text? What's next? "Your fired don't bother coming in today"? I want to know - where's the balls in that??! I'll tell you- there are none!!!!!

Maybe we should put that technology away for a day/weekend/week. I am. Will you join me? Enjoy the sunny day, get out, take a walk, visit a friend. Off you go - log out now. Enjoy. See you in a few days.

CORN HILL NURSERY

The CORN HILL NURSERY is located in the gently rolling hills of Kings County, New Brunswick at 2700 Route 890 approximately 28 km from Sussex or 14 km from Petitcodiac.

"We grow a complete range of hardy fruits, ornamental shrubs and trees, vines and perennials.

We grow without the use of pesticides, herbicides or chemical fertilizers. Soil fertility is maintained by the addition of composts, mulches and crab and fish meals made from by-products of the canning industry. Cultivation is accomplished by machine and by hand. We believe the soil and its health are the foundation of all human activity and should be cherished and protected. We have a loyal staff, many of whom have worked here for 20yrs. or more, that dedicates its efforts to provide you with healthy, high quality plants.

We encourage visitors. In addition to our retail store and the Cedar Café, with an extensive display gardens and over 80 acres of container and field production. Have lunch at our Cedar Café , stroll through our huge plant selection then settle in with a coffee and a good gardening book or examine the Marr Collection in our upstairs gallery, a display of everything a farm family would need at the turn of the century". The Redneck & The Game Warden

A redneck with a bucket full of live fish was approached recently by a game warden in Central Mississippi as he started to drive his boat away from a lake..

The game warden asked the man, "May I see your fishing license please?"

"Naw, sir," replied the redneck. "I don't need none of them there papers. These here are my pet fish."

"Pet fish??"

"Yep. Once a week, I bring these here fish o'mine down to the lake and let 'em swim 'round for a while.
Then when I whistle, they swim right back into my net and I take 'em home."

What a line of bull.... you're under arrest"!

The redneck said, "It's the truth, Mr. Gov'ment Man. I'll show ya! We do this all the time!!"

"WE do, now, do WE?" smirked the warden. "PROVE it!"

The redneck released the fish into the lake and stood and waited. After a few minutes, the warden said, "Well?"

"Well, WHUT?" said the redneck.

The warden asked, "When are you going to call them back?"

"Call who back?"

"The FISH," replied the warden!

"Whut fish?" asked the redneck....
