MERRY CHRISTMAS
I saw a commercial and they were talking
about "holiday cards".
Over the years we've been slowly taking Christmas away from the masses because it has "Christ" in it. It's Christmas, not Holiday.
Try buying Christmas cards. Everything says "Have a nice Holiday", it's hard to find any that say "Merry Christmas".
Happy HolidayS (emphasis on the plurality) is acceptable if you are encompassing Christmas and New Year's.
Nobody drives by a Christmas tree lot and says, "Keep driving! We're looking for a Holiday tree lot". Do you?
I'm confused. I thought this country was based on freedom of religion, freedom of speech, inalienable rights and liberties; because my pursuit of happiness is being infringed upon when some idiot started calling it a Holiday tree!!
Now kids get out of school for Holiday Break, we used to get out for Christmas Break.
I didn't know X as in XMAS is from the Greek letter chi (Χριστός, Xristos) that represents Christ. I guess I have been putting up a stink against myself when I get/got angry over this one. But, I won't change my mind, because if folks like myself didn't know, then how could others?
CHRISTMAS it is.
One of the most prominent Christmas tree controversies came in 2005, when the city of Boston labeled their official decorated tree as a holiday tree. The response from the Nova Scotian tree farmer who donated the tree, was that he would rather have put the tree in a wood chipper than have it named a "holiday" tree.

What next? No more Santa?

Go tell it
Recently we were getting together
to chose some songs for
caroling among our elderly in the Community.
Of all the years, of all those times....
I didn't really stop to "Think".
This was a song, hardly sung at Christmas.
This was a song sung at Sunday School,
at summer camp around the fire.
I really never thought about it as a "Christmas Carol".
Nor, I found out from those around me, had others.
Go Tell It on the Mountain
Chorus:
Go tell it on the Mountain,
Over the hills and everywhere.
Go, tell it on the mountain
that Jesus Christ is born.
While Shepards kept their watching
O'er silent flocks by night.
Behold, throughout the Heavens
there shone a holy light.
The Sheperds feard and trembled
when lo, above the earth
rong out the angel chorus
that haild our Savoriours birth!
Down in in the lowly manger
the humble Christ was born
and God sent out Salvation
that blessed CHRISTMAS morn.
Maybe it's because the chorus is all we sang?
How sad, that this song is one we sang all year,
yet we didn't think of it as a Christmas Carol.
Why can't we sing things like
Silent Night or
Hark the harold angels sing
all year?
Maybe our lives would be different.
Maybe.............just maybe.

Signs of Christmas
The radio/stereo plays:
A day or two ago,
I thougtht I'd take a ride....
Jingle Bells,
Jingle Bells....
God rest ye Merry Gentlemen.
O Come all ye faithful.
God rest ye Merry Gentlemen.
O Come all ye faithful.
Silent Night,
Holy Night.....
The weather outside might be frightful,
but getting together with family
and friends can be still delightful.
Why not throw some fun into these times,
grab the WII or pull out the Monopoly
(although someone may say you cheat).
There are so many possiblities of what to wrap up
and slip under the tree books, games.

that they say games
-of the mind- can
reduce the risk of dementia and
slow it's process.
We have already had a house full
of folks (36) for an after party get-together
and tonight is another for approx 20.
Tomorrow we are having 10 for
a sit down meal.
Feel free to stop by anytime, I am sure we can find another chair.
Merry Christmas everyone.

Pulling it together
Well, it's been years
in the making,
but......
In the centre of the table
is a 'jar' with some of
Black Rose's hand-gathered
seaglass with a candle floating.
Finally!
Another of Black Rose's creations
sits on the credenza.
My Grammie's piano sits
in the corner (even
has her old hymnal).
My 2 favorite people
She had this done for us
years ago
while on one of her trips.
The dog felt left out
so he jumped in.

Why the Poppy?
Remembrance Day: Lest we forget
A day set aside to honour sacrifice

The association between the poppy and war dates back to the Napoleonic wars, when a writer saw a field of poppies growing over the graves of fallen soldiers.
During the Battle of Ypres in 1915, Canadian Lt.-Col. John McCrae was inspired to write the poem In Flanders Fields on sighting the poppies growing beside a grave of a close friend who had died in battle.
The poem was a great inspiration in adopting the poppy as the Flower of Remembrance in Canada, France, the U.S, Britain and Commonwealth countries.
The first poppies were distributed in Canada in 1921.
Today the volunteer donations from the distribution of millions of poppies is an important source of revenue for the Royal Canadian Legion that goes toward helping ex-servicemen and women buy food, and obtain shelter and medical attention.

Determined to finish this project
A long time ago,
in a home,
far away...
Okay, not so far
but it's been a long time.
We are still working on completing
the renovations from when we
did the kitchen.
We have been searching for a
cabinet to replace the
sofa table in the dining room.
We finally found it!
I will post more as we
put the dining room
together as we have
finally found drapery
and such.
But here's a peek.

A Fall Day adventure with Pup Pup 2012
Pup Pup steps out the door,
'Ahh' what a beautiful day for a drive"
"Wait, that skunk was back last night".
"I love playing in the leaves,
maybe I will...........
play with these interesting balls
that mommy is trying to photograph
before the sun hits...oh too late".
Back from my drive.
Mommy drove me to the Dollar Store,
where I got her to buy these rats..
and this hand.
Well,
I think I will head inside but first, I want
to show you my new haircut
Mommy took me to the beauty parlor
Sherry was very nice to me.
I am so proud
to be Canadian.

The Mom Song with lyrics
A post on my facebook this morning:
"I thought that you may like this mom, it was a side note in my Soc Text. I can tell you some of it sounds like things you say... Love you Mom"

Outing
I started driving and it looked like the above,
see the fog way in the back?
Well,
I came across a bridge built in 1931 and below were these fellows playing
Oh YES, I traveled through MOOSE country.
This was marking the house number.
That night it rained ALL night
and through the day...

Love, Respect, and all that comes with it.
I have just worked a 13.5 hour day,
with only 9.5 hours between it
and my previous 10 hour shift.
The bath water is how I like it - hot.
I lie back and pick up
the current Avon booklet.
I finished Butterbox Babies
by Bette L. Cahill last night.
I wanted something light.
I hear my cell in my Office
"Your Daughter is attempting
to reach you on your
cellular device".
I quickly grab the towel,
trip over the dog,
and slide into my Office.
I am so fortunate that
my girl knows that she can
reach out anytime,
even at 12:30 in the morning,
just to talk things out.
She is doing great at University,
loving being away
from the Community in which she grew up -
you know, the small town - nothing here,
but the people. She loves people.
However, she has a heavy
course load - aiming to become
an Anthropologist
with a minor in Archeology.
And she became involved
with the Theatre Group.
Well, for one of her courses
she has required 'volunteer' time
of no less than 15 hours in this semester,
and Theatre has 15 hours practice a week,
along with learning the lines
to Gut Girls.
Add to that the study,
research, and papers due,
maintaining a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
And with everything else,
living in Residence
where some folks have yet to learn
that they are there
to LEARN.
She was feeling a bit
overwhelmed by it all.
Don't we all sometimes, right?
So, we chatted for an hour,
well, I mostly listened.
She had called to ask my opinion,
to 'bounce' some thoughts,
and to de-stress a bit.
I am feeling so .....
thankful? Yes
lucky? Yes
fortunate? Yes
blessed? Yes
respected? Yes
needed? Yes
appreciated? Yes
proud? Yes
tearful? Yes
We love you baby girl! And we can't
and won't ever, be able to tell you enough
how much we love you and how proud we
are of you no matter what!!!!
Call anytime.
Love Mama

A day out
After a morning at the local market,
and a quick stop on the lawn,
we enjoyed a visit in the yard.
The Grapevines have overtaken an old fence and grew into the tree.
Fall in the Maritimes.
