Canadian hip hop artist's song -FIFA World Cup tour

A remixed version of Wavin' Flag, a song by Somalia-born Canadian hip hop artist K'Naan, is the official song of a World Cup trophy tour currently traversing through Africa.

Wavin' Flag lyrics (not complete)

When I get older, I will be stronger,
They'll call me freedom, just like a Waving Flag,
And then it goes back, and then it goes back,
And then it goes back.....

Born to a throne, stronger than Rome
but Violent prone, poor people zone,
But it's my home, all I have known,
Where I got grown, streets we would roam.
But out of the darkness, I came the farthest,
Among the hardest survival.
Learn from these streets, it can be bleak,
Except no defeat, surrender retreat,

So we struggling, fighting to eat and
We wondering when we'll be free,
So we patiently wait, for that fateful day,
It's not far away, so for now we say........

K'Naan
, currently on tour in Africa with the World Cup trophy, was born Keinan Abdi Warsame in Somalia in 1978 before moving to the U.S. and relocating to Toronto. His name, K'naan, means "traveller" in the Somali language.

This is not the first time a Canadian musician's song has been associated with soccer.
1.Forca, off Grammy Award winner Nelly Furtado's 2003 album Folklore, was selected the official song of Euro 2004, the European soccer championship.
2.Furtado, a Portuguese-Canadian raised in Victoria, B.C., performed the song prior to the tournament final in Lisbon.
