Bridge to Terabithia is a work of children's literature about two lonely children who create a magical forest kingdom. It was written by Katherine Paterson and was published in 1977 by HarperCollins. In 1978, it won the Newbery Medal. Paterson drew inspiration for the novel from a real event that occurred in August 1974 when a friend of Paterson's son was struck by lightning and killed.

Bridge to Terabithia is the story of fifth grader Jess Aarons, who becomes friends with his new neighbor Leslie Burke after he loses a footrace to her at school. Leslie is a smart, talented, outgoing tomboy, and Jess thinks highly of her. He himself is an artistic boy who, in the beginning of the novel, is fearful, angry, and depressed. After meeting Leslie, Jess is transformed. He becomes courageous and learns to let go of his frustration.

Dangers in GeoCaching - yes there are some...............

Well, I have really gone and done it now. I poked my eye with a tree branch (again), sad part is I didn't see the branch! Well, obviously or I might not have gotten myself in the eye. I spent 5.5 hours in Emergency Friday..........

They asked me to step back to the wall and read the eye chart covering my left eye and begin reading the letters on the 3rd row from the bottom. I have to tell you that my right eye is "normally" my "bad" eye vision-wise.

Okay now cover my right eye and read from the same...........I took one look at that blurry wall and read the FIRST 2 lines and part of the 3rd before I told her I couldn't see further to read them correctly and that I had guessed at some as it was.

In comes the Doctor and examines my eye,asks me a bunch of questions, freezes it, checks the pressure in my eye and says.. put these drops in every 2 hours that I am awake for the first 2 days and then 4 times a day for the next 5 days. Also to return here (to the EMERGENCY Department) 2 days from now to see an Ophthalmologist and here's the time to come on Sunday.

Let me tell you right here and now, once I can see better I am headed to Princess Auto or Canadian Tire and getting myself some welding safety glasses to wear in the woods when I geocache.

The good news is that it's not 'ulcerated' but does have a bad infection. They are adding a steroid drop to be taken with the other drops I already have. I have to return to see him in 10 days………they will call to set up the appointment. May or may not be related to being poked with the branch as it didn't appear to rip my contact - possible red herring there. He explained it like a scratched windshield and I added 'that's foggy'.

So, for now - I wait and keep putting in these drops like a good girl and no contacts.

Thus it begins - 'The Grad Ring"

I can't believe that Black Rose and her friends have travelled through 13 years of friendship and are now ordering Grad rings, thinking Prom and University choices.

One young lady, who was to become her best friend, she met on the first day of Kindergarten! I can still recall how excited she was to have met 'A'. "AND Guess what", I remember her saying excitedly,"her birthday is on Turkey Day!" Turned out that her birthday that year and Thanksgiving fell on the same day. They are still the best of friends today and are busy planning shopping, and photos. Of course her mom and I have a few tricks up our sleeves as well.

The summer is winding down, the sun has come out hot with little air movement here on the East Coast. Camping season is coming to a close -sadly. I have spent the last couple of days cleaning things out and putting things away. I have noticed others within the Campground have been doing to the same. It seems the summer just got here - with this weather influx it just did - and people are out and about visiting.

Beach exploration is done in shorts with one's head down.

Friendships from across the years are shared over a pot luck.

Wow, it's been 11 years and the kids have grown up together.  Graduation year for one, first year of high schoolfor another and middle school for the third one - girlfriends and boyfriends, dates and new discoveries.
