Go tell it

Recently we were getting together
to chose some songs for
caroling among our elderly in the Community.

Of all the years, of all those times....
I didn't really stop to "Think".

This was a song, hardly sung at Christmas.
This was a song sung at Sunday School,
at summer camp around the fire.

I really never thought about it as a "Christmas Carol".
Nor, I found out from those around me, had others.

Go Tell It on the Mountain

Chorus:
Go tell it on the Mountain,
Over the hills and everywhere.
Go, tell it on the mountain
that Jesus Christ is born.

While Shepards kept their watching
O'er silent flocks by night.
Behold, throughout the Heavens
there shone a holy light.

The Sheperds feard and trembled
when lo, above the earth
rong out the angel chorus
that haild our Savoriours birth!

Down in in the lowly manger
the humble Christ was born
and God sent out Salvation
that blessed CHRISTMAS morn.

Maybe it's because the chorus is all we sang?
How sad, that this song is one we sang all year,
yet we didn't think of it as a Christmas Carol.

Why can't we sing things like
Silent Night or
Hark the harold angels sing
all year?

Maybe our lives would be different.
Maybe.............just maybe.
